SmashPad @ PlayStation Experience 2015

SmashPad is live from Moscone West for the 2015 PlayStation Experience, the open expo for Sony to let their fans experience the latest and greatest from the PlayStation line of products, namely PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation VR. The expo will take place all weekend from December 4-5, and you can expect SmashPad to have the latest hands-on impressions for games on the show floor. We’ll also have a quick recap of the keynote as soon as it’s ready. […]

“Superbeat: Xonic” Review

“Superbeat: Xonic” Review

The developers behind the DJ Max series return with a new rhythm game for the Vita. What Is It? Sony’s handhelds have been a popular destination for rhythm games over the years and Superbeat: Xonic continues that trend with its release on the Vita. Though the developer’s known for their DJ Max series, Superbeat takes a bit of a different approach to its mechanics by eschewing the common vertically-dropping note style in favor of a tunnel like the recently-released Persona […]

[GSE 2015] “The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel” Hands-On

[GSE 2015] “The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel” Hands-On

One of the highlights at the GameStop Expo was a playable English build of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel at the Xseed booth which, to our surprise, didn’t get that much attention.  But once this game comes out, we really wouldn’t be surprised to see it achieve a respectable amount of success in an attempt to stand out among other RPG releases this late into the PS3’s lifespan.

SmashPad Live from GameStop Expo 2015

SmashPad Live from GameStop Expo 2015

Tomorrow, retail gaming giant GameStop will be hosting its annual GameStop Expo at The Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. This year marks the second time they’ve had the Expo in Vegas since 2013, as numbers doubled when they were in the Anaheim Convention Center last year. Though the expo is mostly a chance for the public to try out games and demos they most likely missed out on at E3, considering the fact that we missed E3 this year, we […]

“Volume” Review

“Volume” Review

Volume is the second major project for British independent developer Mike Bithell. The first was the charming and critically acclaimed Thomas Was Alone, a puzzle platformer with more personality than its simple visuals would lead you to believe possible. This second game is much different in style, genre, and tone, but it still manages to surface that witty charm that made Thomas so lovable.

“The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” Review

“The Vanishing of Ethan Carter” Review

If there’s one thing I can say surely about my favorite kind of games, it’s that I love a good adventure. I love being placed in a mysterious world with a not-so-clear sense of purpose or design. There’s something unique about the adventure genre, wherein you are often left confused, sometimes frustrated, but always intrigued to press on.

“King Oddball” Review

“King Oddball” Review

There are times when you want a game to draw you into its world and let you get lost in its depth and details. Other times though, you just want a game you can pick up, play, and enjoy. King Oddball is a great example of the latter. It’s very simple to pick up and play, but make no mistake, it will challenge your brain cells. What Is It? What you get here is an apparently simple physics-based puzzle game. […]

[SDCC 2015] “Mighty No. 9” Hands-On

[SDCC 2015] “Mighty No. 9” Hands-On

We recently got our hands on the upcoming “spiritual successor” to Mega Man, Mighty No. 9, at Square Enix’s booth at Comic-Con, and it’s turning out to be quite the polished game.

“Lego Jurassic World” Review

“Lego Jurassic World” Review

These days, major properties are almost assured to receive merchandise licensing from at least the following companies: Funko, Sideshow Toys/Hot Toys, (insert snack company here), and Lego. When you go with Lego, and you have a movie, you have a great shot at a video game! Jurassic World is no exception. The beloved franchise (well, at least 1/3rd beloved…) has seen its share of video games throughout the years, but none have really hit the mark. Lego games tend to […]

[E3 2015] Sony’s Press Conference Synopsis

[E3 2015] Sony’s Press Conference Synopsis

Right on the heels of Microsoft’s impressive press conference was Sony’s just a few hours later.  With the company continuing their stronghold leading the industry in hardware sales, it was very possible that Sony’s press conference would be full of a lot of crunched numbers.  Be that as it may, it wasn’t, and Sony followed Microsoft’s best conference since their inception with what might as well have been Sony’s best press conference as well.
