SmashPad Streamkend with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD – September 28 at 2 PM EST

This week’s featured game is The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U.

Rather than taking on The Wonderful 101 this week, I’m taking a detour to cover the big early Wii U eShop release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which gives the fan favorite GameCube title a chance to shine in HD on the Wii U. The original was certainly a big graphical powerhouse for the GameCube that still holds up quite well due to its striking cel-shaded art style that Nintendo has updated a bit to make it look even better on the Wii U, though there has been some backlash over the specific visual upgrades that they’ve made. Along with a graphical improvement, Nintendo has taken the time to actually upgrade and rework certain parts of the campaign to smooth over some rough spots to make it easier for new players to enjoy later parts of the game. This was the first Zelda game that I really got into, so I’m excited to get back in to see how it holds up on the Wii U.

Taking a look at October’s upcoming schedule for SmashPad Streamkend, I can definitely confirm that the first show of the month on October 5 will feature Rain for the PS3, which is Sony’s newest PSN title from their Japan Studio and Acquire. The October 12 show will feature Beyond: Two Souls, the new title from David Cage and Quantic Dream. The last two weeks of the month are a little harder to choose since there’s nothing that stands out at the moment, so I’ll hold off and see what’s coming to PSN, XBLA, and such around then.
