FanimeCon 2017 has come and gone.
Known as the biggest anime fan convention in Northern California, otaku from all over the United States head to San Jose to bask in their fandom of Japanese pop culture. Whether it’s by watching anime, playing tabletop games, or dressing up as their favorite characters, it’s always a fun time out, and the gaming cosplay this year came out in full force.
Yes, it’s a weekend about anime, but nerd culture overlaps in so many ways especially with gaming, and tons of different games were represented in the cosplay we saw.
Here’s some of the coolest walking around the con.
Mind you, I’m not a professional photographer, and all of these were taken with with an iPhone 6, so I apologize in advance if the quality isn’t “up to par.”
Overwatch Cosplay
Somewhat surprisingly, Overwatch cosplay probably had the biggest turnout. It’s no secret that the heroes of Overwatch easily transcended gaming in less than a year, but considering it’s not even a Japanese creation makes it all the more impressive.
