In this week’s episode: Patrick, Brandon and myself are joined by an old friend. Theresa Samons was once part of the old GameAddicts team, and we’re glad to have her back! Too bad we have so much depressing news to talk about.

- Updates on the ‘WindWalkers’ kickstarter.
- Added gameplay footage, more explanation for the game world.
- Source novel is also getting an English translation.
- Rock Band 4 in the works.
- Teased last week with Rock Band 3 DLC “Rise of the Fenix”, “Back to the Shack”.
- Tabata: Final Fantasy XV 60% complete.
- He called it 55% back in September. Brutal.
- Optimistically, the hardest work is done, and Tabata thinks 80% will come quickly.
- Coming together well by the live demo Square Enix treated us to this week.
- Kotaku asks hard questions about Sony handhelds
- We should talk about The Order: 1886’s issues, which are apparently many.
- To clarify: Even if you get an advance copy, leaking a Let’s Play really isn’t classy.
- 5-7 hour campaign, repeat boss fights, already known to be very linear
- No apparent replay incentives to speak of (unlockables, New Game +, etc.)
- Fans call to reserve judgment, but no feature redeems $60 for 5 hours total.
- Just make sure the right lessons are taken from this debacle.
- Short campaigns aren’t toxic, short campaigns with no replay value are.
- Rather play a great 5-hour game 8 times than a filler-laden turd once.
- That requires incentive for those eight plays, however.
- Reviews not being kind, either. Achieved less than DriveClub with similar delays.
- PlayStation is already a success unto itself, now it’s time for it to save Sony.
- Sony to start Morpheus push with 4-hour GDC session.
- This is pretty much what we expected PlayStation Experience to be.
- Spencer: E3 planning “going well”. (Or “LET THE HYPE BEGIN!!!”)
- It’s always good when the suits are hype way back in February.
- Battletoads? JRPGs?
- Rodea the Sky Soldier, or Yuji Naka doing what Yuji Naka does, coming to Wii U this year.
- The Nintendo shit show rolls on, pays Metacritic a visit.
- The reason we didn’t get the New 3DS? Brand streamlining.
- Meanwhile, Nintendo insists Wii U gamepad’s potential not fully realized.
- A better question might be if it still matters. Even the Wii U has outgrown that controller, and everybody knows QOL is somewhere in the pipeline.
- Square Enix seeking developer pitches for Gex, Fear Effect, Anachronox.
- Would be nice if they’d right the JRPG ship before worrying about the side dishes
- Question of the Week: Do you buy cosmetic or otherwise non-gameplay-centric DLC?
