[Steam Next Fest] HANDS-ON – Playing “The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest” is no curse

author image by Filippo Dinolfo | Nintendo Switch 2 PlayStation 5 Previews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 22 Jun 2026

As a long-time Castlevania fan, I have seen the series evolve and have its fair share of ups and downs. For me, the best eras the franchise has ever known are the early 8 and 16-bit titles. Granted, 1997’s Symphony…

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – Nothing but good things to say about “Out of Words”

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 19 Jun 2026

Summer Game Fest, and the Nintendo Switch 2 booth in particular, offered a lot of fun cooperative experiences, but one game stood out for its beautiful art style and lasting appeal. If you’re looking for a cooperative sidescrolling experience that…

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Among Us Story: On Guard” is laughably self-aware

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch 2 PC Previews Summer Game Fest | 0 Comments | 18 Jun 2026

Of all the Summer Game Fest announcements, hearing that we’ll be getting story-based content in the Among Us world definitely got a smirk out of me. Seeing as how the Among Us series on Paramount+ went the extra mile with…

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON & INTERVIEW – Too big for DLC, “Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok” looks to bring progression gameplay to bigger heights

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Previews | 0 Comments | 18 Jun 2026

When Granblue Fantasy: Relink came out in 2024, I thought it was a really solid title with plenty of potential after rolling credits because of a solid endgame structure. The best part was that it didn’t take too long to…

HANDS-ON – “Star Fox” demo promises a stellar adventure to come

author image by Dylan Lahaise | Nintendo Switch 2 Previews | 0 Comments | 17 Jun 2026

Developed by Velan Studios, this new take on the series looked very impressive upon its reveal. A free demo was announced in the latest Nintendo Direct and immediately became available to download from the Nintendo eShop. I recently had the chance to play it, and I came away eager to play more.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Demi and the Fractured Dream” feels like a dark Wind Waker, but not quite Zelda

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 16 Jun 2026

Developed by Yarn Owl Studios, Demi and the Fractured Dream is a game very much inspired by The Legend of Zelda, specifically The Wind Waker. Judging from the trailers alone, the toon-shaded look is dazzling, and the protagonist even wears a colorful cloak. The short demo at SGF took us through a small dungeon that felt like a tutorial, but there was nothing particularly challenging about it.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Forever Ago” made me excited to be an old man and give it a “Best of Show” award

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 16 Jun 2026

In Forever Ago, you play as an old man named Alfred who has lived quite a life. In the short demo I played, Alfred stops at a gas station that he appeared to have a more than passing connection to. While he’s really just there to grab a few supplies and snacks for the road, Alfred can’t help but think about a previous visit he’s made to that exact same years ago.

[SGF 2026] PREVIEW – “Onimusha: Way of the Sword” impresses again

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 16 Jun 2026

At Summer Game Fest, Capcom hosted a behind-closed-doors presentation of a new section in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, along with a separate one-hour demo of another section, and while there are some blemishes we didn’t notice before, the game still looks like yet another winner and was one of the best experiences to be had at Play Days.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Alien: Isolation 2” is spectacularly frightening

author image by Michael Fertitta | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 11 Jun 2026

Alien: Isolation is a game that hardly needs an introduction. Easily one of the most well-known horror experiences featuring the iconic Xenomorph killer, Alien: Isolation had people shivering in their boots for years since its release in 2014. When the sequel was finally announced at SGF this year, to say the energy in the room was electric was an understatement.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “N Plus Infinity Times Two” is as wacky as its title

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Previews Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 10 Jun 2026

As soon as I was pitched to preview an “unannounced game from the creators of N+,” I was in. I didn’t have to watch a trailer, even though I ended up seeing it at Day of the Devs. The Newgrounds OG was definitely peak when it came to flash precision platforming, and now seeing it go multiplayer is absolutely nuts, and I’m glad I made time for it at the show floor.
