REVIEW – “Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE” is far more beautiful but also far more frustrating

author image by Andrew Farrell | Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Reviews Steam Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 09 Mar 2026

Remakes simply shouldn’t be 1:1 faithful to their original unless the original’s production values were so lacking that merely having better graphics is enough to make the game more palatable. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE could have focused solely on improving the original’s presentation and controls, but it goes farther, adding extra content and new mechanics. Unfortunately, these new mechanics only make the game worse, as they’re almost as frustrating as they are needless, tarnishing a game that could have easily superseded its predecessors while still not outright ruining what made the original so good.

FEATURE – Nioh 3’s difficulty is great for newcomers but a double-edged sword for fans

author image by Andrew Farrell | Features | 0 Comments | 05 Mar 2026

Nioh 3 is the fastest selling game in the series thus far, having moved over a million units this month alone, but it also does a lot to open the series up to new players that hadn’t yet experienced the games. However, these changes, which seem to be good for broad appeal, are also leaving diehards with a sour taste in their mouths.

REVIEW – “Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties” is both an improvement and a downgrade with some solid new stuff mixed in

author image by Andrew Farrell | Nintendo Switch 2 PC Reviews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 03 Mar 2026

The Yakuza Kiwami games have always been a bit of a mixed bag. The first two felt like their cutscenes were simply slapped into existing games with some unnecessary systems, leading to them failing to actually feel like their original counterparts. The awkwardly titled Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, conversely, manages to mostly feel like its own game, but with an almost shocking amount of the original’s extra content completely replaced.

REVIEW – Superior build quality makes Logitech’s “MX Master 4” an easy-to-use go-to mouse

author image by Andrew Farrell | Hardware PC Reviews | 0 Comments | 22 Jan 2026

Logitech’s MX Master 3S was my productivity mouse of choice for some time, so when I saw that the company released a successor, I knew I had to give it a go. The Logitech MX Master 4 is another high quality productivity mouse that offers a seemingly superior build to its predecessor with three major differences.

I played a hell of a lot of games this year, but I didn’t really love very many at all. While I only covered a few things at SmashPad this year, two of them ended up being some of my absolute favorites.

“Full Metal Schoolgirl” Review

author image by Andrew Farrell | PC PlayStation 5 Reviews | 0 Comments | 23 Oct 2025

I liked Full Metal Schoolgirl overall, but its large consequences for dying during the campaign, the uselessness of many of its weapons, and general jank will deter a lot of potential players. But if lady androids demolishing hundreds of robots sounds great to you, it’s still worth a look.

“Keeper” Review

With how much I adore Psychonauts 2, it’s not a stretch to say that I was very much looking forward to whatever Double Fine did next. Despite this, I hadn’t heard a peep about Keeper. In fact, I didn’t even…

“Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC” Review

author image by Andrew Farrell | Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Reviews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 29 Sep 2025

I wasn’t expecting Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC to pivot much from its original incarnation. The remake of the previous game, for all intents and purposes, was a mostly straight-ahead recreation that faithfully stuck to its PlayStation predecessor. This one, however, not only majorly reimagines much of its content, but completely replaces some of it, all while greatly extending its playtime in some surprising ways. Not all of these changes are for the better and I certainly don’t think that the intent behind some of them flows well with the rest of the game, but this is still a fairly successful remake that does its best to improve things.
