[SGF 2026] FIRST LOOK – “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3” still leaves fans confused despite them knowing what this series is

author image by Danreb Victorio | PC PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 23 Jun 2026

One of the most anticipated but mysterious showings at Summer Game Fest was Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. What we thought would be hands-on time turned out to be hands-off, which is strange, since the Xenoverse series is hardly anything new. We’ll definitely give it credit for introducing new ideas, and for telling an untold story we’ve never seen in that universe before, but as someone that considers himself a Dragon Ball fan, I don’t understand why Bandai Namco is being so cagey about this game.

DLC DEEP DIVE – Omnissiah be praised, the Skitarii bring fanatical technicality and deep customization to “Warhammer 40,000: Darktide”

I found I was struggling with getting into a groove and finding a cool playstyle that fit me and was fun to grind with in this brutal game. No longer am I lost in that regard – the Skitarii have shown me the way.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Slap Out Of It!” absolutely slaps!

author image by Michael Fertitta | PC Previews Steam Summer Game Fest | 0 Comments | 22 Jun 2026

One of the defining traits of a puzzle game is the depth of thought required of players to discover solutions with their own wit. Just like every convention of thought, there is always an example of one who dares to ask, “what if?” Indeed, what if there were a puzzle game whose solutions involved mindlessly slapping everything and everyone around them?

The developers at Turbo Button aim to answer just that with Slap Out Of It!, and I got to slap my way through the first level at SGF.

REVIEW – “Moldwasher” is sloppy at times, but cleans up nicely

author image by Chris Selogy | PC Reviews Steam | 0 Comments | 22 Jun 2026

With the big success of the PowerWash Simulator games, we are starting to see our first indie games take cues from what makes a power-washing game fun and take it to new places. That is where Moldwasher comes in: a 2D game about cleaning up this incredibly nasty kitchen full of mold, disgusting goo, and more bad things in various parts of the room, due to whatever happened before this game begins. To make things a bit weirder, you’re a sentient piece of sushi that has somehow been tasked with cleaning up these areas with a power washer and various other tools in a game that doesn’t try to be any bigger of a game than it has to be.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Escape Academy 2: Back to School” is a shaky puzzle experience

author image by Michael Fertitta | Epic Games Store PC Previews Steam Summer Game Fest Xbox One Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 19 Jun 2026

If you’ve ever done an escape room, you’ll know the fun comes from putting everyone’s heads together to brainstorm solutions using the limited environment around yourselves. In Escape Academy 2, this core component of collaborative puzzle solving gets blown wide…

[Steam Next Fest] HANDS-ON: “Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?!” Yes, Truck-kun is supporting you from another world!

author image by David Rodriguez | PC Previews Steam Steam Next Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 18 Jun 2026

The art is colorful and pristine, the gameplay and premise beckons comparisons to games like Crazy Taxi, the Katamari series, and another indie darling Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom. This is worth checking out for the absurdist anime slant alone.

[Steam Next Fest] HANDS-ON: “BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4” reminds that sometimes games just need to be fun, ridiculous, and Brazilian

author image by David Rodriguez | PC Previews Steam Steam Next Fest | 0 Comments | 17 Jun 2026

This is obviously not going to be for everyone, but developer Joeveno has earned a cult following with this rambunctious, vivid, trippy, and esoteric look into a very minutely pinpointed aspect of Brazil’s cultural history. That it’s in the form of a boomer shooter just makes it potentially enjoyable by more people who are into that sort of thing (me!).

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Crimson Moon” is an engaging blend of Soulslike and roguelike mechanics

author image by Michael Fertitta | PC PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 17 Jun 2026

One such combination that I did not expect to encounter at SGF was a crossover of soulslike and roguelike gameplay styles. Crimson Moon sets out to do just that and blend together the consequential difficulty of soulslikes with the replayability of roguelikes. After playing a demo at SGF, I’ve got to say that this combination absolutely works!

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Valor Mortis” is a fascinating first-person take on the soulslike genre

author image by Michael Fertitta | PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 17 Jun 2026

Dark Souls has inspired countless games that have taken its hardcore gameplay structure and iterated on its high skill ceiling and item scarcity. Regardless of whether some enjoy such mechanics, the gameplay has become highly influential for studios of all sizes when creating their own experiences. One such game that excels in this is the upcoming first-person soulslike, Valor Mortis. I was fortunate enough to play through a couple of levels during my demo session, and I came away thinking it was one of my highlights of the show.

[Steam Next Fest] HANDS-ON – “The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival” if nothing else continues a tradition of middling games for the franchise

author image by David Rodriguez | PC Previews Steam | 0 Comments | 16 Jun 2026

The Walking Dead has a hell of a past with video game adaptations and unless there’s something big in store for the final release of Streets of Survival, it’s looking to stay that way.

[SGF 2026] HANDS-ON – “Nekome: Nazi Hunter” is delightfully visceral

author image by Michael Fertitta | PC PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Summer Game Fest Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 16 Jun 2026

ProbablyMonsters has commanded more attention over the past few months for its unique and varied game output. This year’s Summer Game Fest was a demonstration of this approach, with one of two titles being a story-driven action game that involves beating up Nazis. On that premise alone, it was difficult to turn down the chance to try out a game with a simple but brilliant beat, but I was also interested to explore the uniquely stylized world that ProbablyMonsters had built for this title.
