This week on SmashPad Streamkend, the Ouya gets the spotlight.
The Ouya is now officially launched so that non-backers can check out the new Android-based console that provides a cheaper alternative to traditional consoles. I've enjoyed my time so far with the system since I got my Kickstarter unit back in May, though I wouldn't say that it's a suitable replacement for consoles. It's cool to see some of the more interesting Android games that I always see when I browse the Google Play store on my Nexus 7 but I know would play like crap on it, which includes shooters, shmups, platformers, and plenty of other genres. I'm looking forward to showing off the new system so that you can see what it's all about right now.
As I've been saying for weeks, the lack of games coming out this month continues on with only next week's NCAA Football 14 being our only guaranteed featured game for the month, so I'll continue keeping an eye on release date news to see what's out on PSN and XBLA for the next few weeks until some good stuff is out. If nothing surfaces for the last two weeks of the month, we may have to dip into some of the games I've picked up on the cheap during these good sales on PSN and Xbox Live.
