This week’s featured game is Puppeteer for the PS3.
If you’re a big fan of platformers, this generation has been pretty rough as the market for big budget platformers has mostly disappeared outside of a few established franchises and risk-taking publishers that still see potential in the genre outside of the PSN and XBLA scene. We’ve received a nice little cap to the generation with the release of Rayman Legends last week and Puppeteer this week that may be a sign that Sony and Ubisoft might still be crazy enough to take chances on these sorts of games. Puppeteer takes inspiration from puppet theater to provide one of the most beautiful 2.5D platforming experiences ever made that really does a great job of fleshing out the presentation that’s needed to really emulate this style of performance well. Add in some really good controls and you’ve got the makings of one hell of a platformer that is available now for $39.99. I will be picking up right where the demo left off in one of our recent videos.
Looking ahead to upcoming shows, the final two shows of September will be Grand Theft Auto V for the September 21 show and The Wonderful 101 for the September 28 show. October begins with either Rain or The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD on October 5 and Beyond: Two Souls on October 12, which gives us a decent look into what will be featured as this fall kicks into gear to destroy us before the new consoles come to finish us off.
