SmashPad Streamkend with Saints Row IV – August 24 at 2 PM EST

Saints Row IV is this week's featured game.

With a new publisher backing this game, the team at Volition has gone all out with Saints Row IV to give it the dumbest and coolest premise possible. A few years have passed since the events of Saints Row The Third and your character has become the President of the United States. Unfortunately, aliens have invaded, captured you, and instead of killing you, they've hooked you up to what is essentially their version of The Matrix. Inside this fake version of the real world, you gain super powers like super speed, super jump, gliding, and the ability to run up buildings, which you use to your advantage to try to ultimately fight back against the aliens that have captured you. The one knock that the game has is that Saints Row The Third didn't run all that well on PS3 and Xbox 360 and Saints Row IV now adds new powers where you move through the world more rapidly to tax that engine even further, so that aspect of it seems poorly executed in this rush to get this game out so quickly.

It's time to take a look at upcoming releases to see what will be featured on the next few shows. The August 31 show is still up in the air with not much in the way of releases happening then, so keep an eye out for next week's post to see what the feature game will be. The September 7 show will probably feature Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse as the remake of the classic Genesis games finally sees release. The September 14 show will feature Puppeteer for the PS3, which looks to be a really cool platformer from Sony's Japan Studio. Rounding out the next month's worth of shows, Grand Theft Auto V will be the featured game on the September 21 show.
