This week’s featured game is The Wonderful 101 for the Wii U.
The Wonderful 101 is the newest title from Platinum Games, the developer that brought us Bayonetta and Vanquish. In contrast to those two titles, The Wonderful 101 is more of an action game with some of the style of the Viewtiful Joe games mixed with some Pikmin-esque action gameplay as you take control of a group of heroes that fights by morphing into various types of weapons depending on the formation you draw up on the GamePad screen. For example, draw a straight line and they form a sword for basic attacks and an L for a gun for ranged attacks. This makes for one of the more unique Wii U titles that utilizes the GamePad quite well.
Looking ahead to what will be featured for the rest of the month, I can only guarantee that Beyond: Two Souls will be next weekend’s featured game as Quantic Dream’s newest game finally gets released. The of October is pretty much up in the air right now since there’s nothing big there for me, so I may just use those two weeks as a sendoff of this generation with the impending launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November.
