REVIEW – “Scott Pilgrim EX” is another fun beat-em-up that could’ve been something legendary with its open world approach

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch 2 PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5 Reviews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 03 Mar 2026

When Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game came out in 2010, it was a breath of fresh air despite being a callback to video games several generations before it. Fast forward over 15 years, and while the feeling isn’t quite as fresh since beat-em-ups have more or less made a return, Scott Pilgrim EX presents an impressive follow-up that both old-school gamers and Scott Pilgrim diehards should enjoy.

[Steam Next Fest] Hands-On: “inKonbini: One Store. Many Stories” is a cozy title that got me all nervous

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch PC PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 26 Feb 2026

This demo only gives you this one shift, and it doesn’t take long at all. You’re tasked with taking stock out of the back and putting it on the konbini sales floor, making sure everything at the store is in order, and then opening up shop. Simple, right? Oh, if you only knew.

[Steam Next Fest] Hands-On: Is “Cleaning Up!” really fun?

The Steam Next Fest demo of Cleaning Up!, which you can play now, features four levels that provide just enough to get your feet wet. There’s an apartment, a castle, a museum, and a cafe, each providing a new gimmick to differentiate itself enough. Only one of these levels qualifies as challenging, but again, it’s a demo.

REVIEW – “Super Bomberman Collection” is one of the most explosively joyful shadow drops in recent memory

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch 2 PC PlayStation 5 Reviews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 26 Feb 2026

When Super Bomberman Collection was unveiled during this month’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, I got wide-eyed. Ever since I got my hands on Mega Bomberman on the Sega Genesis during the unfortunate but memorable days of the Sega Channel (yeah, I’m that old), I’ve been a big Bomberman fan. Little did I know that game would end up being the high point of the series for me until now, more than three decades after I was introduced to it.

REVIEW – “God of War: Sons of Sparta” is a solid story hidden in an epic slog of a journey

author image by Danreb Victorio | PlayStation 5 Reviews | 0 Comments | 19 Feb 2026

God of War: Sons of Sparta was shadow dropped after long being rumored to be in development. As you’d expect, it sent the internet into a bit of a frenzy, but after rolling credits on the game, those who decide to see it through should find a solid story of a much younger Kratos we aren’t familiar with. The problem is seeing it through will require patience likely too demanding of a spartan.

After playing Monster Hunter Stories 3 for over 10 hours, the potential for this turn-based spinoff to reach greater heights is definitely there. Monsties, anyone?

[Steam Next Fest] Hands-On: I had to hold myself back from playing too much “Fallen Tear: The Ascension”

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch PC PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5 Previews Steam Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 12 Feb 2026

I first saw Fallen Tear: The Ascencion after I received a press release promoting a trailer for the game. When I found out it was being developed by a studio in the Philippines, it had my full attention. My roots are important to me.

REVIEW – “Cairn” is another fantastic ‘You actually like this?’ simulator

author image by Danreb Victorio | PC PlayStation 5 Reviews Xbox Series X | 0 Comments | 29 Jan 2026

Every time I got to a base on the mountain where I could walk a little and set up camp, I’d take a look back at the distance and remember what it took to get up there. The fact that a video game can make me think all that really makes it special.

REVIEW – Patient people with big brains will get the most out of “Big Hops”

author image by Danreb Victorio | Nintendo Switch PC PlayStation 5 Reviews | 0 Comments | 20 Jan 2026

The best platforming games usually a have a fantastic sense of momentum during traversal, creating a feeling of nonstop action. Other stalwarts in the genre replace that momentum with weapons and power ups that help make the impossible seem possible. Big Hops does a little of both in very enjoyable ways, but its focus on puzzles heavily bogs down the experience.

Review in Progress: The middle of “Big Hops” might be too big of a hop

author image by Danreb Victorio | Features Nintendo Switch PC PlayStation 5 | 0 Comments | 12 Jan 2026

When I first got my hands on Luckshot’s Big Hops at GDC last year, I thoroughly enjoyed what I played and needed more. Unfortunately after a few hours, it hasn’t been nearly as enjoyable.
