Summer Game Fest has replaced E3 to become the biggest week in video games.
In addition to the big showcase happening on June 5th, along with PlayStation’s State of Play on June 2nd, and the Xbox Showcase on June 7th, there will be tons of smaller showcases throughout the week filled with world premieres and updates on upcoming titles.
Of course, there’s the IRL component as well. For the third straight year, we’ll be back at Summer Game Fest Play Days, a three-day media-only event where we’ll have access to a wide range of upcoming titles, so get ready for a whole bunch of hands-on previews and developer interviews over the next few weeks. It’s gonna be a fun time!
That said, for the first time ever, SmashPad will have a whole crew of people at both the Summer Game Fest Showcase and Play Days, so expect way more content than what you’re used to. Danreb Victorio, Adriana Rodriguez, Michael Fertitta, and Michael Murphy are all set to bring you awesome written previews and videos, and we might even have content from special guests, so stay tuned.
Last but not least, we’ll also be debuting our “Best of Show” award at both Summer Game Fest and PAX West. At these in-person events, SmashPad Staff and contributors will nominate several games on the show as Best of Show contenders, and we’ll eventually choose our favorite game as the Best of Show. Best of Show nominees and winners alike will receive a special sticker that they’ll be able to put on their booth, and while there isn’t anything more than sentimental value with these awards, at least they’ll walk out knowing that they were one of the best games featured at the show (that we played).
